Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (8-week Contract)
Location: Bakersfield, CA 93301
Hospital Information: 254 beds
Unit Description: This unit provides comprehensive labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and newborn (LDRPN) services. The OB Triage function is included, performed by staff within this department. Ambulatory birthing centers are excluded.
Shift: 3 X 12 Nights (7:00 pm - 7:00 am)
Position Type: Contract, 8 weeks
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Labor & Delivery unit on an 8-week contract basis in Bakersfield, CA. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to expectant mothers and newborns throughout the childbirth process. This position offers the opportunity to work night shifts (7:00 pm - 7:00 am) on a flexible 3 X 12 schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert nursing care to women in various stages of labor, including assessment, monitoring, and support.
- Assist with the delivery of newborns and provide immediate postpartum care to both mothers and babies.
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and maternal vital signs to assess labor progression and detect any signs of distress.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective childbirth experiences.
- Educate expectant mothers and their families about labor, delivery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
- Perform OB Triage assessments and interventions as needed, ensuring timely and appropriate care for obstetric emergencies.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in electronic medical records.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff, adhering to hospital policies and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery nursing.
- Current ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and NRP certifications.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility to work night shifts (7:00 pm - 7:00 am) on a 3 X 12 schedule.
