The Cath lab Manager is a front line manager designated as the leader for the department, its patient population and assigned staff. She/he has twenty-four hour accountability for all patient care activities, department operation and staff function. The manager is also responsible for assisting the director in the organization, planning, direction, administration, and evaluation of services in areas of responsibility. Serves on committees as needed.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees day-to-day operation of the unit is regards to patient flow and staff activity.
- Checks patient charges daily. Corrects errors immediately.
- Works within budget and assures fiscal soundness of the unit.
- Plans, directs, administers and evaluates new services.
- Insures quality customer care service daily.
- Accurately prepares monthly and quarterly reports and presents and designated committee meetings.
- Builds and maintains relationships with Physicians.
- Directly addresses Physicians complaints/concerns.
- Obtains new/replacement equipment for the unit to improve patient services.
- Serves on committees as requested by Administration.
- Accurately checks and records employee time in Kronos daily.
- Assists in staffing to provide adequate staffing for the unit.
- Works with other units to provide cross-training of staff for cross coverage.
- Assess for the appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological conditions/functions.
- Modify approach to the patient according to psychological development.
- Assess for the potential lifestyle changes resulting from illness and plan accordingly, including discharge planning.
- Identify physical and emotional needs of the specific age group and evaluate need for additional support.
- Communicate appropriately to the age group.
- Assess for signs of abuse/neglect and notify the appropriate personnel.
- Effectively assess and manage pain according to the age/cultural needs of the patient.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an accredited Professional School of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred or graduate of an accredited School of Radiation Science or RCIS. Bachelor of Science preferred.
- 5 years experience in Cardiovascular Services/Cath Lab
- 2 years Supervisory experience
LICENCES/CERTIFICATES
- RN license to practice in the state of Illinois
- ARRT
- RCIS
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
