Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide intensive biliteracy intervention in Spanish and/or English to identified small groups of students using “pull-out” and “push-in” models Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver exemplary biliteracy instruction to students Use data to assist teachers identify and group students who need additional biliteracy supports Provide training and support through academic coaching, co-teaching, lesson modeling, facilitating, etc. when working with the classroom teacher Participate in and lead on-going and job-embedded professional development in the area of biliteracy Attend training for methods and strategies that improve general reading instruction and demonstrate best practices Participate in professional growth and development and stay abreast of current research through continuing education, campus/district-level professional developments and meetings, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in professional organizations, etc Supervisory Responsibilities None

Bachelor's degree Master's degree preferred Valid Texas Teacher Certification valid Texas Teacher elementary certification Valid Bilingual Certification valid Texas bilingual Spanish teaching certification Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Spanish/Language Arts or Reading at the elementary level Fluency in English and Spanish (proficiency in oral and written communication in both languages) Extensive knowledge and experience working with students who require reading and writing intervention Thorough understanding of reading and writing research, instructional strategies and language acquisition theories Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to share expertise with peers while working with students and providing job-embedded professional development Leadership ability and experience in providing coaching and support to classroom teachers in the area of biliteracy Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
