Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.

We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.

Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. Our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an experienced Corporate Finance professional to support the continued development of the company in North America and lead novel and challenging transactions. Your focus will be to support the North American business unit for Zenobē and the broader Corporate Finance team. You will support through managing relevant key stakeholders, in reviewing, analyzing, structuring, and executing across group financing and strategy, investment and M&A activities, structuring and approvals of individual investments, overall transaction management and non-recourse debt financing of individual investments.

This is a unique opportunity to apply core skills from a career in finance into broader co mmercial and financing skills in a highly entrepreneurial context. While you will continue lead execution on debt and equity transactions, you will also have a broader role to play in co-ordinating across legal, technical and commercial departments and building a business. You will receive substantial support from a strong in-house team and high-quality external advisors.

The role will be North America-focused, but we hope that experienced hands will be able to support international expansion activities including Australia & New Zealand, US & Canada and Mainland Europe.

A BIT ABOUT THE DAY TO DAY 

  • Management of day-to-day CF function in North America, up to and including functional buildout to accommodate business growth and objectives
  • Overall responsibility for project finance raising for EV Fleet projects in North America and potentially internationally
  • Overall responsibility for project finance raising for Battery Energy Storage projectsin North America and potentially internationally
  • Leading execution of portfolio-level debt raising
  • Supporting execution of Group level equity raising / realization of value for shareholders
  • Identifying and executing opportunities for capital structure optimization (e.g., mezzanine/junior debt, tax optimization)
  • As needed, assist with any deal and/or M&A analysis as part of due diligence in order to achieve targeted strategic alternatives, M&A, and other growth opportunities
  • Support internal Investment Committee processes
  • Point of contact for key stakeholders/shareholders
  • Responsible for overseeing key internal processes/policies set by CF: Hedging, Debt drawdowns, IC models/handbook guidance, Board input, pricing models, credit risk analysis, etc.
  • Periodic update of investment / pricing policy and commercial analysis (e.g. Battery Residual Value analysis)
  • Manage relationships with key advisors/lenders, building and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Work alongside Head of Finance on company financial reporting and commercial insight to be gleamed from financial data
  • Developing and executing commercial partnership opportunities
  • As needed, assist with any deal and/or M&A analysis as part of due diligence in order to achieve targeted strategic alternatives, M&A, and other growth opportunities

YOUR EXPERIENCE

We are looking for humble, hungry, smart builders who love being part of a fast-moving team.

Essential competencies:

  • A genuine passion for finance and a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience
  • Experience in execution of project finance non-recourse financing and supporting the structuring and execution of complex transactions in the infrastructure, transport and/or energy sectors
  • Experience in execution of equity transactions in the infrastructure, transport and/or energy sectors (M&A, capital raising)
  • Experience within EV, Energy storage, and/or Energy/Transportation
  • A pro-active self-starter, willing to shape your own role and present ideas and suggestions
  • Fluency in English is mandatory and bi-lingual capabilities are desirable although not essential.

Desirable but non-essential skills:

  • Experience working for a start-up/ scale up business with the ability to have an agile approach, curious mind, personal resilience and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Qualified in either of the following – ACA, ACCA, CFA
  • Bi-lingual capabilities are desirable although not essential
