Summary of the Ministry Position

:

Mobilize IBC members to take the Gospel to the lost, to develop future missionaries, and to oversee the pastoral residency and internship.

Develop a Strategy

Under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, work with the Global Mission team to prioritize, design, plan and execute effective, sustainable efforts (programs, initiatives, partnerships, and events) toward mission goals.

Currently, IBC’s multifaceted strategy for global impact includes:

International Sending members to the nations as a long-term, full-time missionaries going through IMB, or other Missions’ organizations.Engaging members in strategic short-term teams and mid-term assignments.Engaging members to seek opportunities to reach the nations through their vocation and family life.Nurturing a church-wide sending culture that engages members who stay in supporting those who go, in a unified commitment to sharing the Gospel among the nations. National Develop a church planning strategy for Central Florida and North AmericaEngaging members in a home-mission strategyEngaging members in short-trip and mid-term opportunities in North America and Puerto Rico Local Developing local engagement strategy to serve the communityEngaging members in local outreach opportunitiesSupervise all IBC outreach initiatives and programs Inspire and Inform Members Collaborate in a church-wide effort to infuse mission as integral to IBC’s identity.Raise awareness of the local, national, and international mission fields.Lift up a biblically inspired vision for what nations and cultures could look like if “God’s will be done here on earth as it is in heaven,” and what IBC could be like if members fully embrace God’s mission in our community. (Isaiah 65:18-25, Matthew 6:10, and Luke 4:18-21) Engage and Equip Members Collaborate with the “Member Care & Engagement” and “Equipping and Disciple-Making” teams to connect people with a variety of meaningful and accessible options for involvement with global missions. Offer opportunities appropriate to: Individuals, families and small groupsPeople in different life phases (e.g., students, families with children and older adults) In partnership with other teams, develop an strategy to recruit, train, and mobilize members for mission teams and other volunteer positions.Coordinate trainings related to global missions, such as cross-cultural ministry, Gospel-centered mercy ministry, and tent making evangelism.Ensure care and nurture for those engaged in global ministry to foster spiritual growth, maintain personal health, strengthen families, and prevent burnout; create advocacy teams for each of our sent-out ones. Empower Leaders

Recruit, train and coach the members of the church to provide the overall vision, direction, structure, support and accountability for global mission.

Lead and serve other Idlewild Global Missions staff members.

Organize Structures and Systems Manage Ministry Partnerships: Build connections with mission-critical stakeholders and help manage partnerships at mission locations.Nurture and strengthen working relationship with IMB and NAMB.Connect with existing mission networks wherever beneficial; where appropriate, develop new networks that can help lead to viral movements.Establish criteria and a process for starting and exiting partnerships at appropriate times. In collaboration with the Creative Team, develop a communication strategy that includes sharing information, inspiration, and stories about global missions.Work with field missionaries to plan and coordinate effective mission initiatives that consistently score high in assessments of effective engagement.Oversee logistics for mission related travel; steward budgets, prepare reports, and manage other administrative aspects of ministry.Create synergy between global missions and other areas of church life and mission. Collaborate with other staff for a comprehensive mobilization strategy that integrates global mission with Tampa area ministries, multi-site development, and church planting.Develop alignment with the Pastoral Vision and with other areas of church life, including worship, discipleship, youth ministry, and family ministry. Pastoral Responsibilities: Will share in all Pastoral ResponsibilitiesWill share in Idlewild Pastoral responsibilities including, but not limited to, funerals, weddings, baptisms, hospital visits, Pastor of the Week and Invitation Counseling.Preaching and teaching, as requiredFaithful evangelist and intentional disciple-makerShepherds the people well. Loves them and disciplines them according to the Bible.Visible and accessible to the members of the church

Monday – Tuesday 8:30 – 4:30 PM

Wednesday 8:30 – 8 PM

Sunday 8:30 – 12:30 PM

Education required and preferred:

Formal Seminary Education (M. Div or Doctoral)

Experience required and preferred:

Pastoral experience in Missions

Characteristics required and preferred:

Must meet the biblical qualifications of a pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, Acts 20 and 1 Peter 5.Devotion and Christlikeness: A life and ministry marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.A heart for the church and a passion for the evangelization of the lost Theological framework: Convictional alignment and support of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.A person with a strong biblical-theological foundation. Writing and communication ability: A developed skill in writing and/or speaking must mark this pastor’s engagement with the church and different departments. Must be a member of Idlewild or become one as soon as practicable after joining staff.

Physical required and preferred:

Able to travel to remote international places.
