Welding and Metals Joining Manufacturing Engineer

This position will oversee all metal joining processes at the Sensata Thousand Oaks, CA facility, including internal processes: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Laser Welding, Resistance Welding, Induction Brazing and interconnect soldering plus external processes: Electron Beam Welding and Furnace Brazing for Aerospace applications.

General Responsibilities
• Implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
• Collaborates with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products
• Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines
• Organizes records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
• Key participant in planning and designing manufacturing processes in an industrial plant
• Organizes the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation in support of manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Support all metal joining processes – welding, brazing and soldering Concept and/or design braze and weld tooling/fixturing. Working knowledge of Solid Works is a strong plus. Perform characterization of weld, braze and solder joints BS Degree in Welding is a strong plus. BS degree in a related engineering discipline will be considered with metals joining experience Experience with J-STD-001 for soldering, NDT (Fluorescent Penetrant and CT Scan/Xray) and Metallography is a strong plus. Experience and knowledge in Shainin Problem Solving or Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing, Aerospace quality systems and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing is a strong plus.
