The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine within the Department of Medicine at UConn Health Invites applications for the position of Occupational Medicine Physician, Director of Clinical Services and Medical Director for the Employee Health Service. 

UCONN Health has an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Medicine physician, to serve as Director of Clinical Services and Medical Director for the Employee Health Service at UConn Health.The position is in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (DOEM), at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. 

DOEM has a long history of cross-disciplinary collaborative work with the UConn Center on Aging, Psychology and Biomedical Engineering. The DOEM clinical program includes the UConn Health employee health and UConn Health EAP, ergonomics services as well as an occupational illness clinic. DOEM consultative work includes state agencies, private industry, and insurance.

Principal Employee Health responsibilities include clinical care with support and oversight of a dedicated staff providing a full complement of services to the employees of a large university health center complex. Drafting and oversight of medical policies, conduct of surveillance and immunization procedures, and interaction with university and hospital health & safety professionals as well as workers' compensation staff are essential components of the position. DOEM is engaged in clinical care, education, consultation, policy development and research.Accordingly, in addition to the clinical focus, candidates for this position should also have an interest in teaching, resident/medical student supervision, consultation, and research. 

The position encourages collaborative initiatives that advance the field of occupational medicine. This position requires strong patient care, communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines.Expectations for this position include BC/BE in Occupational Medicine with three to five years' experience, preferably including work in an academic medical center, and possession of an active license to practice medicine in Connecticut.Medical Review Officer certification, and Medical Examiner Certification under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program are encouraged but will be temporarily deferred for a well-qualified applicant. A thorough knowledge of and experience with the principles and practice of hospital occupational health is essential, as is knowledge of Connecticut workers' compensation and OSHA regulations.
