Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a Lead Server at our Tesson Heights community.  

As a Lead Server, you will have to opportunity to connect with, and positively impact the lives of, our residents daily  You will assist the Dining Services Director in training and support of the server team, ensuring the best dining experience for residents while creating a pleasant and sanitary dining area. 

As a Lead Server, working with the Dining Services Director, you will impact the lives of our residents by –  

• Supporting all catering, room service, special party needs, marketing functions, etc.

• Creating a dining room schedule and ensure there are enough wait staff for shifts as needed.

• Ensuring that all dining room staff fully understand the daily specials, desserts, and daily soups.

• Clearing, sanitizing, and setting tables, removing garbage from the kitchen and cleaning trash containers, thoroughly reviewing and completing daily checklist of duties for maintaining and cleaning kitchen and dining areas.

• Assisting in cleaning work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events, sweep, vacuum, and mop floor at the end of shift.

• Assisting in controlling food costs, when possible

• Being responsible for training server team in the standard operating procedures of Cedarhurst Senior Living.

• Completing daily checklist of duties for kitchen and dining room, following all cleaning schedules, and required cleaning duties.

• Providing direction on side work assignments to the serving staff, and ensure extra guests are prepared along with support serving staff with questions and providing assistance as needed.

• Learning and implementing Cedarhurst dining programs.

• Ensuring team understands dining menus and can effectively communicate information to residents.

• Ensuring table settings meet Cedarhurst’s dining program standards.

• Attending community leadership meetings.

• Remaining current and up to date with all food safety licensing requirements for FDA, state, county, and local authorities along with ensuring all guidelines are adhered to.

• Maintaining safety standards as outlined by Cedarhurst guidelines for infection control.

• Utilizing basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.

• Ensuring effective communication is being utilized by community staff with the residents’ families concerning residents’ care, encompassing their physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing.

• Working well with others and take direction from management, as well as taking initiative with the capability to engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed. 

• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand/move, communicate, and identify written information. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently; occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with assistance.

• Other duties as assigned. 

To become a Lead Server, you will need –

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 0-2 years of previous experience preferred.

• Applicable state/county licensure preferred. 

• CPR or BLS certification preferred.
