Position Summary

The Head Tennis coach will lead the ONU men’s and women’s tennis teams in their mission of “Winning Championships—Developing Champions.” This requires successful management of all phases of the tennis program: facilities, staff, finances, and constituent relations. The position also requires visionary leadership to strengthen the tennis program athletically, academically, spiritually, and through the service mission of the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Implement discipleship initiatives to foster spiritual growth for student athletes Schedule and supervise a fall and spring schedule Recruit and maintain a minimum of 30 student athletes: 15 men and 15 women Work within budgetary guidelines for all phases of the program Arrange transportation for all matches Follow proper university procedures to schedule facilities for practice and competition Provide coaching and supervision at all practices and matches Provide players with proper practice opportunities and knowledge to improve their game Coordinate the issuance, care, and inventory of equipment, supplies, and uniforms Ensure the proper completion of all athletic training and medical forms required for participation Support the academic progress for student athletes on the roster Supply the sports information director with player rosters, team results, records broken, etc. Collaborate with the Assistant AD for Compliance to complete eligibility certification each semester Follow department and university guidelines for purchasing, travel, and reimbursements Adhere to the athletic department logo, colors, and fonts Collaborate with Assistant AD for Operations for facility and operational needs; possibly provide operations assistance with track and field meets Other duties as assigned by the athletic director

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Top candidates will:

Exhibit a lifestyle in agreement with the . Possess successful college and or high school coaching experience. Possess personal characteristics such as vision and excellent communication skills. Demonstrate an understanding and sympathy for education in the Wesleyan tradition and Nazarene school sponsorship. Demonstrate an active relationship with Christ as expressed in faith and service, which is in accord with the mission of Olivet Nazarene University. Be a model of Christian discipleship as confirmed through active engagement in a local church, involvement in campus worship, and through a vibrant, current testimony.

EDUCATION

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required; master’s degree is preferred.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Head Tennis Coach reports to the Director of Athletics. Practices and competitions are held on campus in the Snowbarger Athletic Park Complex.
