Position Summary:
The Dietetic Technician provides Food and Nutrition Services with the work required in the operation of the diet office. Functions as a Dining Service operator.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Food Handler Certification. Food Handler Certification required within 30 days.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of nutrition and/or modified diets preferred. The ability to both read and understand written instructions, numerical ability, and ability to work with other people. Good communication skills. Basic computer skills.

Essential Functions:

Answers phones in accordance with customer service standards and directs calls to appropriate person. Processes the patient/guest food orders in the Dining Service computer. Completes diet changes coming off the order entry computer. Collects, posts, and calculates calorie counts. Charts calorie counts on weekends. Costs-out the food-to-floor orders. Posts the costs into the computer program. Processes physician lunch orders. Keeps the nourishment cardex updated. Orders nourishments through dining program. Completes the monthly diet office reports. Keeps the kitchen informed of the patient census and the Rehab Unit census. Assists in training new diet techs. Delivers patient/guest trays, grievance trays and assists on trayline as needed.
