CHSI is a private, non-profit organization established in 1973 to serve the health needs of migrant & seasonal farm workers and their family members. Today, CHSI has expanded services and provides mental & physical healthcare to all individuals in our communities. Our services are provided on a more affordable sliding fee scale to those who are under-insured or un-insured. We also accept ND and MN Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance plans. We currently operate four nurse-managed clinics, two mobile medical units, and two victim advocacy program centers in Minnesota & North Dakota.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are on the search for a driven and ambitious intern candidate seeking experience working in a trauma informed clinical settings. This is a paid field placement experience position. Our Clinical Intern/Practicum Student is responsible for applying learned classroom theory with on-the-job practical experience in the assigned program while ensuring the applicable Academic Program and or/Academic Institution's learning criteria is satisfied. Our clinical internship program is designed for graduate students in mental health counseling and clinical social work who are ready to apply their theoretical knowledge in a professional setting. We seek compassionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to improving mental health outcomes and supporting diverse communities. This internship offers invaluable hands-on experience, preparing you for a career in mental health services


Responsibilities:

  • Fulfills the required academic program and/or Academic Institution's criteria for an internship learning objectives.
  • Participates in the orientation and the onboarding process to learn Community Health Service Inc.'s policy and procedure expectations (e.g. safety, harassment free environment, patient confidentiality, etc.)
  • Ensures confidentiality of all treatment and services information pertaining to patients and their families.
  • Maintains agreed upon schedule and timeliness.
  • Meets the supervision requirements and expectations.
  • Acts ethically, professionally, and is respectful when communicating and interfacing with patients, colleagues, and external contacts.
  • Performs other job-related responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed and/or requested of the position.

ARE YOU A GOOD FIT?

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • In an eight hour workday, the employee must be able to: bend and crouch occasionally, sit continuously and stand or walk frequently.
  • Employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Employee must be able to use hands/arms, feet/legs for repetitive fine to large motor skill movements.

Educational Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited Master's program in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Must meet the required number of experience hours in a human services field for the internship level.

  • Understanding of and sensitivity to diverse populations
  • Willingness to work with clients from various socioeconomic backgrounds

Additional Desirable Qualifications:
