Responsibilities

The Echocardiogram Technologist uses Ultrasound to visualize internal cardiac structures, obtain measurements of cardiac valves, ventricle and left atrium and visualize blood flow. Assists the physician with complex ultrasound procures. Performs electrocardiograms per procedure. expands scope of examination according to any abnormalities observed. obtains patient information from the patient, chart, and physician. Selects the appropriate transducer and settings for the machine for optimal visuals, maintains records of all procedures performed, sends reports to requesting physicians and archives the tape and text of patient examinations. Makes sure that all equipment is calibrated correctly on a month basis. 

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of ultrasound experience in echocardiology required. Ability to communicate in English; both verbally and in writing, bilingual preferred. ARDCS or CCI certification required and current BCLS certification. Echo/Doppler interpretive skills essential. HS graduate or equivalent. Strong background in electrocardiography and cardiac special procedures as well as knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology. Ability to function in an emergency situation. Experience/knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
