Registered Nurse (RN-CNI), Night

UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN CNI) for Cardiac Stepdown for the night shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Registered Nurse will support the Medical Centers busy 16-bed cardiac stepdown unit delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established stands of care and according to policy and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN-CNI) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.
Care for patients recovering from heart failure, heart infections, heart dysrhythmias, status post ablation, pacemaker, or cardiac catheterization. Collects basic level data, follows protocols with all populations, and does not deviate from them. Matches formal knowledge with clinical events to make decision. Performs and charts thorough cardiovascular assessments Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice. Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient. Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms. Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit. Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure. Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit. Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.

Education and Experience Requirements:
A strategic, adaptable, growth-oriented, and team-focused personality Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing Licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
