Job Description

Mount St. Mary’s University is seeking adjunct professors to teach in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. We are currently seeking qualified instructors to teach in the following programs:

Mathematics

We are seeking someone with a master’s degree, experience and expertise in undergraduate mathematics topics, and a strong interest in effective pedagogy. The successful candidate will have demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to teach mathematical thought in a hands-on way to students with a broad range of skills. Target courses: Mathematical Thinking, Elementary Statistics, Pre-calculus, Calculus I.

Computer Science

We are seeking someone with a master’s degree, experience and expertise in undergraduate computer science topics, and a strong interest in effective pedagogy. The successful candidate will have demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to teach algorithmic thinking utilizing Python or Java to students with a broad range of skills. Target courses: Introduction to Computer Science I (Python) and II. (Java), Computer Architecture, Operating Systems.

Cybersecurity

We are seeking someone with a master’s degree, experience and expertise in technical cybersecurity education topics, and a strong interest in effective pedagogy. The successful candidate will have academic and/or industry cybersecurity experience, and the ability to teach students with a broad range of skills at the undergraduate or graduate level. Target courses: Networking Administration, UNIX and Windows Operating Systems, Secure Systems Design and Risk Management, Network Security, Penetration Testing & Ethical Hacking, Blockchain.

Data Science

We are seeking someone with a master’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, operations research or computational science disciplines like bioinformatics, and a strong interest in effective pedagogy. The successful candidate will have demonstrated data science lifecycle experience including statistics, exploratory data analysis and machine learning in R or Python. Target courses: Introduction to Data Science I, Exploratory Data Analysis and Machine Learning.
