As a Principal Software Safety Engineer , your responsibilities will include:

Analysis of engineering software, and/or firmware, IAW MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, etc. Work with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through deployment to gain concurrence with software builds

This position is posted as ONSITE and is based in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Performing Software and/or Firmware analyses Executing the Software System Safety Program Mentoring junior engineers Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors) Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval Briefing software safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design

Basic Qualifications:

Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position. Experience with: Software or Firmware Engineering, Safety Engineering, System Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with DoD System Safety Programs Strong written, verbal and presentation skills Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

Clearance Information:  This position requires ability to obtain a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
