Adjunct Music Instructor- Percussion:

Role:
Teach private percussion lessons and provide assistance and academic advising to percussion students outside of class.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Teach private percussion lessons as assigned by department chair.  Use appropriate technology for lesson communication.
  • Stay current in both the professional field and current teaching/learning best practices.
  • Work as a team member in the Fine Arts Department. Contribute to department assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements. 
  • Comply with the “faculty responsibilities” as related in the Faculty Handbook and the College’s Policies and Procedures Manual. 

Performance Measurements:
  1. Demonstrates the Viking Values of balance, clarity, gratitude, service, teamwork, and trust.
  2. Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations relating to higher education.  To ensure effective student services and high quality customer service are provided.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience: One to two years of related experience.
  • Previous successful experience teaching piano in a high school, university and/or community college, and demonstrated ability to
    engage students in the learning process.
  • Education: Master’s degree or higher in music from an accredited college or university.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
  • Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special demands are required to do the work.
  • Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
