Adjunct Music Instructor- Percussion:
Role:
Teach private percussion lessons and provide assistance and academic advising to percussion students outside of class.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Teach private percussion lessons as assigned by department chair. Use appropriate technology for lesson communication.
- Stay current in both the professional field and current teaching/learning best practices.
- Work as a team member in the Fine Arts Department. Contribute to department assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
- Comply with the “faculty responsibilities” as related in the Faculty Handbook and the College’s Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Demonstrates the Viking Values of balance, clarity, gratitude, service, teamwork, and trust.
- Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations relating to higher education. To ensure effective student services and high quality customer service are provided.
- Experience: One to two years of related experience.
- Previous successful experience teaching piano in a high school, university and/or community college, and demonstrated ability to
engage students in the learning process. - Education: Master’s degree or higher in music from an accredited college or university.
- Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
- Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special demands are required to do the work.
- Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
