Position Focus:

The Systems Engineer 3 – Trunked Radio Systems is accountable for the operations of all Distributed Antenna Service (DAS) and radio installations at the University in accordance with infrastructure codes, standards, methods, and procedures: Requires excellent verbal and written communication skill to support carriers, integrators, and internal stakeholders. Responsible for ensuring there are maintenance contracts on all systems and that they are renewed annually. Works with carriers, consultants and the University to plan and execute a regular refresh cycle to keep equipment current. Responds to outages to coordinate response, and coordinates a backup plan for 24/7 on call coverage. Serves as a resource in matters regarding projects, design, planning, budget, cost analysis, and regulatory compliance issues. Prepares and analyzes performance metrics report and monitors and inspects the quality of work of all vendors who interact with the systems.

Essential Duties

1. Develop or modify moderately complex software programming applications from specifications.2. Monitor, support, and troubleshoot IT infrastructure, ensuring adherence to standards and service level objectives.3. Analyze and prepare reports on performance metrics.4. Implement and support robust and secure IT solution.5. Draw on relationship and technical skills to act as technical liaison to internal and external stakeholders.6. Serve as a technical liaison; support & collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.7. Contribute to development & implementation of best practices.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and four years of experience or equivalent education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Developed understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and data structures.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Developed understanding of software engineering best practices.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Developed analytical, critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Developed interpersonal, written, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Ability to write precise, detailed technical specs and documentation.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Working knowledge of iBwave software and a working understanding of radio frequency applications and engineering, including FCC regulations.
