The UT School of Public Health San Antonio is the newest school at UT Health, San Antonio, a collaboration between The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, also called UT Health San Antonio, and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). UT Health San Antonio and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) are both Hispanic-serving institutions. The new graduate school will provide academic instruction relevant to public health and serve as a focus of research activities directed toward community health problems as it maintains and grows relationships with all entities interested in public health. The School will offer master's and doctoral programs in public health.

The Department of Quantitative and Qualitative Health Sciences at UT School of Public Health, San Antonio, is seeking candidates with an emphasis in epidemiology. Faculty in the Department of Quantitative and Qualitative Health Sciences may have diverse research, teaching, and service interests in epidemiology and/or biostatistics in a variety of fields of study, including: epidemiologic research in infectious diseases; epidemiologic research in chronic diseases; cancer epidemiology; spatial, environmental, social, and/or genetic epidemiology; aging; cardiometabolic and cardiovascular outcomes; health inequities; substance use; injury prevention; rural health and disparities; mental health; maternal-fetal and women’s health; and exercise and physical activity. Faculty may have methodologic interests, including cohort, case-control, or cross-sectional studies; secondary data analysis; longitudinal data analysis, meta-analysis; clinical trials; qualitative methodologies; or mixed methods.

The Department seeks to identify successful candidates with demonstrated research portfolios and scholarly publications, and experience in teaching coursework appropriate to graduate-level instruction in the domain of quantitative and qualitative health sciences and their application in public health. Faculty will be expected to contribute formally to the academic curricula, teach graduate courses, as well as actively engage in the formation of the School through internal and external service activities. Qualifications

The position requires a doctorate in epidemiology, public health or a related field Candidates should have prior teaching experience at the post-secondary university levelCandidates should have demonstrated ability to conduct both applied and academic researchExpertise and/or experience in issues pertaining to historically underserved populations are especially desirable but not required.

Assistant Professor Job Code (External) Additional Information Benefits Overview

UT Health San Antonio offers an excellent benefits package for its employees. Employees who work at least hours a week, with an appointment of at least months, are eligible for benefits.

Medical- UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Employees and their dependents can also receive discounted copays and coinsurance when using UT Health Physicians, a network of premier physicians including more than specialists.

Dental- Three dental insurance plan options are available for employees and their families through Delta Dental Insurance Company, two PPOs and one dental HMO plan. Both PPO plans allow employees to choose any licensed dentist.

Vision- Fully insured Vision Care benefits are offered by Superior Vision Services. Two vision plan options that offer either standard or enhanced vision benefits. Retirement- Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.

Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:

Front-loaded Paid Time Off: to hours ( to days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.

Extended Illness Bank: hours ( day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.

Paid Family Leave: Up to hours ( weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after months of consecutive employment.

Holidays: set paid holidays each year plus three floating holidays, which can be used anytime during the fiscal year.

FSAs- Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses.
