The Plant Quality Manager (Coatings) is responsible for the overall management, leadership, and direction of the QC Department. This role will also be responsible for training and development of their subordinates.

As a Plant Quality Manager, you will:

Direct and supervise QC Technicians and Quality Specialists  Develop processes and procedures to ensure we have consistent and repeatable testing methods to ensure the quality expectations of our customers. Uphold all quality expectations of Axalta, customers, and regulatory bodies. Ensure that all department equipment is kept in good working condition and is maintained and calibrated as per regulatory and company requirements. Manage all the timekeeping and disciplinary actions of the QC department. Work closely with other site leadership team members to ensure that the flow of product through the value chain is in working order. Work closely with on-site R&D to develop scale up of testing procedures and processes between both departments. Lead improvement programs and key activities from idea generation to realization and financial validation, using Lean methodology and other continuous improvement tools. Focus improvement work on defect reduction and waste elimination to achieve productivity improvements, process capability / efficiency / optimization, and cycle time improvement. Ensure responsibilities and controls are in place to sustain improvements, including support and ownership where improvements must be maintained. Leverage skills and develop others and assist in training / mentoring in quality management and coatings knowledge. Drive site uniformity in a product by process-oriented quality system using a comprehensive and integrated management approach. Conduct 2nd party audits and assessments with focus on improvements to meet customer needs while also strengthening our business.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

5 + years’ work experience minimum working in a quality management role in chemical manufacturing. 3 years of managerial experience. Bachelor’s Science Degree Experience effectively leading change and building and implementing multi-site improvement plans. Experience facilitating Lean training events or Kaizen events. Experience working effectively as part of a team as well as leading teams and meetings. Experience being a Change Agent to drive continuous improvement. Experience analyzing data to make process improvements. Experience using organizational and time management skills to execute to a schedule. Effective written and oral communication skills with all levels of employees including senior stakeholders. Experience performing basic statistical analysis. Experience using Excel (large data sets, graphs and pivot tables) and including results in PowerPoint presentation.

Preferred:

Chemical Engineering degree preferred. Coatings experience preferred. Lean certification preferred. SAP knowledge a plus. Knowledge of & experience using Minitab a plus.
