Tenure-Track: Assistant Professor

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate is expected to develop and lead an independent, high-impact, extramurally-funded, and internationally recognized research program. Candidates with a strong background in any current or emerging area of plant-microbe interactions that will fit within our department’s focus on plant pathology are encouraged to apply. The subject areas include but are not limited to epidemiology, pathogen ecology, pathogen population biology, host-microbe interactions, immunity and disease resistance, vector-borne disease, and disease management. Responsibilities will also include teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses, chairing and serving on graduate committees and service to the department, university, and the profession. The Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology hosts an undergraduate program in Bioenvironmental Sciences and graduate programs in Plant Pathology.

The College Station-Bryan area is also centrally located between Texas’ major metro areas including Houston, Dallas-Ft Worth, Austin, and San Antonio.
A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Plant Pathology or related area, including but not limited to genetics, genomics, biology, ecology, entomology, microbiology, soil science, crop science, computational biology etc. Candidates with post-doctoral research experience are preferred. Evidence of the potential for developing an outstanding research program and indications of strong mentorship and teaching skills are required. Applicants are expected to have a strong publication record, interpersonal and communication skills, and the desire to collaborate with others in a collegial team environment.
