POSITION SUMMARY

The Farm Manager will be responsible for directing the daily operation of the sod farm properties in the FL market. This will include being on site to supervise fertilizer applications, irrigation, mowing, planting and spraying turf fields. Responsibilities will include supervising the filling of orders from Company's logistics for sod pick-up and delivery, and then, all post-harvesting re-growth efforts to prepare fields for the next harvest. Such oversight is expected to be provided when necessary and reasonably possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

· Managing all staff and ensuring that have all safety equipment and uniforms as necessary

· Be the point of contact for all accounts that the company utilizes

· Managing fields to the proper moisture level is a challenge and will need to be constantly adjusted throughout different times of the year

· Periodic inhouse applications of fertilizer for weaker areas and to encourage regrowth from newly harvested areas

· Herbicides to prevent and eliminate weeds and insecticides to prevent and eliminate harmful insects will also be essential to the premium turf quality

· Maintenance of appropriate spray records as required by state and federal authorities

· Supervise Mowing and ensure that mowers are kept in proper condition

· Work with Logistics to ensure the proper number of pallets are cut daily

· Ensure that Cloudscape is updated in real time as each load of sod leaves the Farm

· Must be readily available and prepared for constant changes that develop form rerouting, change orders, equipment breakdowns and inclement weather at both the Farm and delivery sites

· Implement a mowing schedule and ensure that all mowing is done weekly in a timely manner

· Coordinate daily with the Production Specialist around spraying, fertilization, irrigation and coordinate mowing with the Harvesting Crew

· Monitor the weather on a daily basis and adjust mowing schedule due to inclement weather

· Coordinate daily with the Spray Tech around spraying, fertilization, irrigation and coordinate mowing with the Harvesting Crew

· Ensure that all mowers are kept in proper condition and that blades are consistently sharpened and replaces as needed to maximize mowing efficiency

· Ensure that all mowing tractors have adequate amounts of fuel daily to maximize production of the mowing rotation

· Coordinate with the Maintenance and Repair Supervisor all scheduled repairs and preventative maintenance of the mowing fleet

· Manage monthly inventory of sod, parts and materials

· Communicate with Human Resources to establish and maintain proper staffing levels in all areas of the operation

Requirements

EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related field or equivalent work experience. Minimum of four years of operations management or farming operations experience.

CAPABILITIES/SKILLS

· Strong communication skills

· Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, Excel and Outlook, ERP Systems, QuickBooks

· Ability to apply strong planning, organizational and leadership skills in a hands-on, fast-paced environment

· Good technical writing, documentation, and record keeping skills

· Good analytical problem-solving ability

· Ability to work flexible hours
