Surgical Tech II, Crane Orthopedic OR

The Surgical Technician II ensures that the Operating Suite is adequately prepared for procedure by preparing instrumentation and equipment.

• Assists surgeon by passing instruments during operative and invasive procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique at all times.
• Demonstrates the ability to clean and sterilize all surgical instruments.
• Actively participates in all performance improvement activities and team meetings.

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED
• Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program
• Prefer 2-3 years Surgical Technology experience

• Certification Requirements:
  • Certificate from Surgical Technologist Program or 3 years experience
  • CPR

• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Meditech (if applicable to position)
  • Epic (if applicable to position)
  • Performance Manager/NetLearning
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

• Other Requirements:
  • Scrub role in Operating Room
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with internal and external customers.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must exhibit patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
  • Self-motivated
  • Participate in National and International investigational trials for intellectual rewards.
