SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Mold Setter is responsible for all set up of production tools, sample molds, and auxiliary equipment ensuring conformance to specifications. Removes and sets molds according to the mold change schedule. Maintains molds for cleanliness and repairs as needed or as directed by toolroom/supervisor. Performs mold cleaning and required documentation. Position requires regular and recurrent attendance – minimum of 40 hours per week.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Weigh material or scrap as required to make mixes or disposition to production or scrap out. Clean, label, and load molding machine material hoppers. Move and monitor material dryers as needed to support production and maintain clean, dry material. Regrind, blend, and make mixes according to routing book. Gather and submit moisture samples from material dryers. Remove scrap material and boxes from Molding. Keep Molding department dumpster emptied and maintain a clean area around it. Supply plastic materials to molding machines or designated workstations for further processing. Clean or change filters as required in material dryers. Manage receiving and warehousing of materials. Remove and set molds according to mold change schedule assuring molds are secure, water is correct, ejector is setup, and all auxiliary equipment such as circulators, hot runner controls, and air blasts are in place. Assure mold is correct style and change over if needed. Install and remove production tools in injection molding presses to include auxiliary equipment such as mold heaters, hydraulic slave units, robots, super chillers, and conveyors. Set control board to correct parameter settings for next production job. Start up and shut down presses when necessary. Perform minor repairs to equipment on an as needed basis. Operates various equipment, including forklifts, hand truck, and hoists in order to move molds or equipment from one location to another. Complete all required paperwork: work orders, start-up check sheets, etc. Computer input required. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Communicate with other department personnel as necessary to coordinate and ensure accurate and timely job activities. Clean molds as needed to maintain part quality for production. Communicate with other Mold Set-Up Technicians during shift and at shift change. Acts as trainer for Material Handlers in the Molding department. Complete preventative maintenance on molds and documents as required in procedures. Develop and complete process improvements. Act as trainer as needed. Perform troubleshooting and wiring. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to work and function in a team environment. Must be proficient in basic mathematics. Must be able to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions given in written, verbal, or diagram form. Hydraulic maintenance, tool set up, robot set up, hand tools, and manufacturing or related experience is a plus. Must possess a mechanical aptitude. Must demonstrate punctuality and have a good attendance history.
