Summary:
This position is responsible for providing spiritual care, counseling and guidance to patients/families and staff during a full-time, 3-5 year-long residency fellowship under the supervision of an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) Certified Educator. The incumbent will co-supervise student chaplains enrolled in the CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) program. Chaplain Resident Fellow will enter and successfully complete all required elements of the ACPE (Association for Clinical Pastoral Education) certification process to become an ACPE Certified Educator.

Responsibilities:

Conduct regular patient/patient family and staff visits to assigned floors; rotate weeknight and weekend on-call coverage with other staff; conduct daily chapel services; prepare and conduct Sunday worship; assist in the planning and presentation of special services throughout the year. Provide counseling and spiritual guidance to hospital staff; facilitate and/or conduct staff support groups as directed. Co-supervise CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) Chaplain Students. Participate in CPE training seminars and weekly Spiritual Care staff meetings; provide input and feedback regarding problems/solutions and program enhancements; visit area churches as directed to teach Sunday school, speak about the department and CPE program, conduct funerals or provide other assistance. Assist patients/patient families when clergy needs are expressed; contact and assist visiting clergy; complete weekly reports of patient/patient family and staff visits according to established guidelines; and perform other duties and special projects as required.

This is a full-time position.

How You’ll Be Successful:

WORK EXPERIENCE

6-8 Units of Clinical Pastoral Education. Completed Level II ACPE Outcomes Required

EDUCATION

Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Required Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Master of Divinity or equivalent completed Required
