Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Supervisor Lab Pathology is responsible for coordinating daily operations including organizing, staffing, directing, reviewing, and monitoring of all histology and cytology functions. This position works closely with other laboratory section leaders, laboratory management, and pathologists. They ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Essential Job Functions

• Utilizes working knowledge of procedures and theories in all areas of responsibilities.

• Hires, onboards, and administers disciplinary actions of personnel as needed.

• Completes schedule and manages timekeeping.

• Implements policies and procedures as relates to specific area.

• Oversees training and orientation of personnel. 

• Maintains standards of accreditation for their area.

• Performs regular discussion on priorities and performance to staff via touch bases, check-ins, etc.

Licensing/Certification

Must possess one of the following (by a nationally recognized certification agency, preferably ASCP):

HT Histotechnician Certification

HTL Histotechnologist Certification

CT Cytotechnologist Certification

PA Pathologist Assistant Certification

Education

High School/GED (required)

Associates, Medical Laboratory Science/Biology/Chemistry/Microbiology (preferred)

Bachelors, Medical Laboratory Science/Biology/Chemistry/Microbiology (preferred)

Work Experience

5 years experience in a pathology laboratory setting (required)

Previous experience in a leadership position in a pathology lab environment (preferred)
