NORC partners with government, corporate, and nonprofit clients around the world to conduct survey research that informs critical decisions facing society. 

NORC Field Data Collectors, internally known as field interviewers, play a significant role in collecting the data that drives our research.  They conduct phone and in-person interviews to gather survey data for research on subjects including health care, employment, education, and economics.  The Ideal Candidate for Field Data Collector Flexible, part-time work (20 – 25 hours a week). Our most successful interviewers typically dedicate 4-6 hours a day to interviewing.  Self-starter who can manage, organize, and commit to your own work schedule.  Enjoys meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and professions.  Available to meet with people in-person at their homes, jobs, or other public spaces to conduct interviews, sometimes without notice to the residents.  Has interviewing, sales, or customer service experience.  Requirements For Employment: Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED Preferred Must be comfortable contacting participants unannounced and without appointments Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation Available to evenings, and weekends when people are more likely to be at home.  Must have basic knowledge of a tablet or laptop computer usage skills such as sending email or opening and using a web browser to search for information. All employees hired for this position must present evidence of their identity and authorization to work in the United States (I9 documentation). Qualified applicants must be eligible to work in the . This position is classified as intermittent. The pay rate for this position will be $18.00  per hour, based on experience and geographic location. 

NORC will contribute to an individually owned, fully vested retirement account with TIAA at a rate of $4.57 for each hour worked, and contributions will be made on a quarterly basis.  Intermittent staff are eligible to make pre-tax or post-tax contributions as part of NORC’s Supplemental Retirement Plan.  Opportunity to earn more for bilingual speakers.  NORC will provide compensation for training hours, mileage reimbursement, and other approved expenses.  Free counseling and referrals through NORC's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Eligible for paid sick leave.  Eligible for holiday pay Corporate Discounts Paid orientation and training Possibility for advancement into full-time management roles Opportunity for annual raises and/or performance bonuses for those who meet performance goals.

The National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 79 (NLSY79, Round 31) is a critical source of data about the lives of adults and young adults in the . The broad range of questions makes the study useful to many people. Policy makers have used this information to pass new laws and legislation. They have also used it to examine the problems of our society and raise awareness about a wide range of important concerns, from labor issues to childcare.

This is an SCA project, which will begin in September and continue through the end of June 2025 . Successful field interviewers may have the opportunity to stay with the project for an extended period.
