General Description / Primary Purpose The Coordinator of Web Design oversees creating and maintaining websites and digital interfaces for the department and the University’s academic units, ensuring brand consistency and user-centered design. Responsibilities include conceptualizing designs, leading pre-production, producing web and social media content, and managing design projects. The coordinator also develops testing and revision protocols to optimize compatibility and troubleshoot issues while contributing new design ideas to promote the department’s image. Essential skills include visual design expertise, multitasking, and adherence to deadlines. Essential Duties Job Function Act as a leader in communicating conceptual ideas and design rationales, all within a user-centered design process Direct and execute pre-production activities, such as creating wireframes or mockups and establishing a project timeline Create interactive deliverables, including website designs, emails, user interfaces, social media posts, and presentations Writes articles, gathers and edits material from other writers, and arranges graphics, photos, videos, and audio content at the site Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts Develop and implement procedures for ongoing website revision Develop, validate, and document test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser and device types Develop and deliver workshops on creating web and social media presence Identify and correct problems uncovered by testing or feedback Contribute daily to the creative process by coming up with innovative design ideas to further enhance and build the department’s brand Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction Work on multiple projects at once and consistently meet draft deadlines Provide site and content support to university faculty and staff Maintain the university brand across various mediums Percentage Of Time 100 Posting Detail Information Marginal Functions Contribute daily to the creative process by coming up with innovative design ideas to further enhance and build the department’s brand. Identify and correct problems uncovered by testing or feedback. Required Qualifications This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience. Faculty Position Required Qualifications N/A Departmental Requirements Two or more years of experience designing in a web-based environment (publishing/editorial preferred) Complete proficiency in WordPress and WordPress theme development, designs and edits, HTML, and PHP coding experience preferred Experience with web hosting environments and cPanel preferred Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma (or other interface design tool) Comfortable knowledge of CSS/JavaScript/CMS and current development trends A solid portfolio with design examples Experience writing articles and documentation Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines Good organization skills Excellent written communication skills Statement(s) of Understanding Definition This position requires a background check.
