This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Roadway Engineer to join our thriving transportation practice in Miami, FL This individual will primarily be helping with various civil engineering tasks in support of our thriving Florida transportation practice and will have the opportunity to be a key contributor on major, marquee transportation projects.

Your Impact

Serve as task manager for civil engineering projectsDevelop traffic control plans for DOT and municipal projectsMay also support design-build or other civil engineering projects as neededHorizontal and vertical design of roadway elementsDevelopment of traffic control and roadway plan sheets and detailsAbility to review and understand roadway improvement plansRoadway concept design for turn lanes, intersections, sidewalks and pedestrian facilitiesBicycle facilities and complete streets designDetails and special provisions developmentCost estimate preparationsSupervising and mentoring junior staffWork as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work, assist with laying out installations, establishing reference points/elevations/grades to guide construction, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memosWork collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projectsExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university3-5 years of progressive engineering design experience with emphasis on transportation engineeringUnderstanding and familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and StandardsExperience in maintenance of traffic and traffic control Working knowledge of Microstation / GeopakProficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPointEngineer in Training CertificationAbility to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirementsKnowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirementsCapable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audienceEffective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environmentProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Engineering licenseExperience in traffic control and construction staging plansKnowledge of Microstation 3D modeling software #LI-PJ1
