The Opportunity:

West Liberty University is seeking applications for a half-time Doctoral Methodologist to serve on the newly launched Doctor of Education Program to serve on dissertation committees and advise on Methodology throughout the student's doctoral program. This position will report to the Chair of Graduate Teaching and Learning. Initial student load will be 8 students, with an anticipated max load of 30-40 students once all cohorts are running/filled at the end of year three.

 

Essential Functions of the position:

  • Serve as the College of Education and Human Performance methodologist on doctoral committees.
  • Provide feedback, both written and verbal, on required sections and chapters of the dissertation.
  • Attend committee Zoom meetings as requested.
  • Attend the two-day Summer Seminars (in-person strongly preferred), Zoom might be possible with permission from the Chair/Dean Respond to Chair and Student questions within 48 hours
  • Attend Dissertation Defenses Assess the academic quality of the dissertation through both methodology alignment (Purpose statement, problem statement, research questions, methodology, design, sample, data analysis, results, etc.) as well as APA.
  • Complete required faculty trainings.
  • If requested, instruct one to two online doctoral courses per semester (Fall, Spring, Summer). These courses would revolve around Methodology and/or Data analysis and are already built.
  • Provides thorough and constructive feedback about the following:
    • Data collection and analysis.
    • Presentation of the data and the conclusions drawn from the analyses.
  • Attend required departmental trainings.
  • Other tasks as assignment by the Department Chair and/or Dean.

 

Education & Experience Requirements: 

  • Doctoral degree in the field of Education, or related field from an accredited university
  • Strong research methodology background in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods.
  • Experience serving on doctoral dissertation committees is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team building skills.
  • Experience with distance learning is preferred.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Dedication to supporting the educational and growth requirements of students pursuing their degrees through distance learning; preference for supervising graduate-level student research.
