Role Overview: They are seeking a talented and motivated Mechatronics Engineer to join our dynamic team in Lexington, Massachusetts. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and optimization of robotic systems for automotive applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Design and Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and integrate mechatronic systems for automotive robotics applications.
  2. Mechanical and Electrical Design: Develop detailed designs and specifications for mechanical and electrical components, ensuring compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  3. Sensor Integration and Calibration: Implement sensor systems, including vision systems, proximity sensors, and encoders, and optimize their calibration for accurate performance in robotic applications.
  4. Control Systems Development: Design and implement control algorithms for robotic motion control, ensuring precision, speed, and safety in operation.
  5. Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of mechatronic systems, analyzing performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, test reports, and design documentation, to support development activities and facilitate knowledge transfer.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, proactively identifying opportunities for innovation and optimization in automotive robotics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in mechatronic system design and integration, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and electrical design (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle).
  • Strong understanding of control theory and experience with control systems design and implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with robotic systems, motion control, and sensor integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
