The Staff Accountantassists with detailed activities associated with maintaining general ledgeraccounts and for developing financial statements and reports. All functionswill be performed within the guidelines of the Downstream Casino Resort’spolicies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in thepreparation of financial reporting as required.

•Prepares and keysjournal entries as needed.

•Assists in specialprojects as required. 

•Records and balancesconstruction transactions and accounts

•Experience in Infiniumand Cognos preferred.

•Review monthlyConstruction Pay Application for completeness and accuracy.

•Process depreciationexpenses in accordance with company’s capital policy.

•Review supportingproject documentation to ensure assets are being capitalized or expensed inaccordance with GAAP and the company’s capital policy.

•Prepare monthly andquarterly fixed asset reporting, including general ledger reconciliations, rollforward schedules, and depreciation models; Analyze Capital and Construction inProgress accounts for proper accounting

•Verifies the accuracyof information transmitted to the financial reporting system.

•Adheres to regulatory,departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.

•Provide accountingsupport to other departments as needed.

•Performs analysis ofDownstream Casino Resort both monthly and annually.

•Assist departments andmanagement in the budgeting process.

•Provides exceptionalcustomer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly, andprofessional manner at all times. Maintains a professional work environmentwith supervisors and staff.

•Meets the attendanceguidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and companypolicies.

•Attend all necessarytraining and meetings.

•Assist with physicalinventories as required.

•Duties,responsibilities, requirements, and expectations pertaining to this job aresubject to change as needed. Hours are determined by 24-hour schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a minimum of 18years of age or older upon employment.

•Bachelor’s degree inaccounting, Finance or related area preferred.

•Candidate for CPA/MBAwill be given preference.

•A minimum of 0 – 2years direct accounting experience required, with preference given to candidates with previous constructionaccounting and/or fixed asset tracking experience.

•Knowledge of Infinium,Cognos, MMS, Excel, and other accounting software packages is an asset.

•Must present awell-groomed and professional appearance.

•Must possess excellentcommunication skills.

•Must be able to read,write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual andaural cues.

•Ability to writeroutine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees andcustomers.

•Must have the abilityto deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.

•Must have the abilityto resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

•Must be able to beapproved for and maintain a valid gaming license.

•Work nights, weekendsand holidays as required.

•Employment iscontingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drugscreening.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND WORK DEMANDS

•Must be able to stand,walk and move through all areas of the property.

•Maintain physicalstamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced,noisy casino environment and effectively deal with guests, management andemployees in all situations.

•Must be able to bend,kneel, or stretch for filing purposes.

•Must be able to sitfor extended periods working at a computer terminal.

•Must have the physicalability to work with extreme weather as well as the ability to lift 20 lbs, tosquat, stand or bend repeatedly.
