Responsibilities

The Finance & Accounting Team has fiduciary responsibility for financial aspects of our end-to-end business, including all accounting and regulatory facets of Product, from 'Farm to Fork' ... Facilities, from 'Greenfield to Sunset' ... and Partners, from 'Recruit to Retire.' The team also oversees our Mexico Division's accounting, tax, and finance operations.

As a Property Tax Advisor, you are committed to excellence in compliance and customer service, while monitoring/implementing changing tax regulations, employing critical thinking skills, and being the key Property Tax resource to internal and external customers. A prospective candidate for this position will be highly organized, detail oriented and takes initiative as the owner of Property Tax compliance reporting.

What are we looking for?

What is the work?

Learn and maintain Property Tax compliance software (PTMS). Post notice/protest/final values in Property Tax compliance software and calculate estimated tax liability. Analyze furnished data to generate renditions and exemption applications. Prepare and timely file annual renditions and returns utilizing PTMS. Approve tax statements for payments and interact with governmental agencies to ensure liabilities are accounted for and processed timely. Review real and personal property value notices to work with Tax Director and third-party consultants in helping determine the validity of proposed assessments and the need to appeal or take further to litigation. Assist with developing valuation/sales models and presentations for protests and appeal hearings. This will include working with clients and third-party experts. Develop and maintain strong client relationships. Manage/maintain Economic Development Agreements and property tax exemptions (ag exemption, pollution control, etc.) Provide research and/or updates on new or proposed legislation, regulations and rulings in tax and advise on how to implement or mitigate their impacts. Take initiative to transition all property tax mailing communication and payments to electronic/paperless format. Support property tax accounting functions such as understanding tax journal entries, property tax payment journal entries, budget general ledger reporting, account reconciliations and variance explanations. Provides support to internal teams (Real Estate, Store Accounting, Legal) across the company to ensure accurate property tax account set ups and answer to questions for new stores/sales/other changes. Be willing to cross-train and assist in other tax compliance projects (sales & use or income tax related). Works on special projects and perform other duties, as assigned.


What is your background?

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent/comparable experience, preferred. Experience with property tax software (PTMS), preferred. Proficiency in MS Office Strong research, analytical skills, and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
