Tracking Code Job Description

The Boston Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine seek an outstanding candidate to join the Section of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Assistant Professor level as a Physician Assistant.

The primary responsibility of the candidate will be to assist the Physicians with clinical services in the Section of Infectious Diseases. The PA will work on the inpatient and outpatient service. On the inpatient service, the PA is expected to take over follow-up care for patients on the physician-led Infectious Diseases consultation services when patients have stabilized. The PA will perform allergy testing and evaluation on patients with a reported penicillin allergy to determine most effective treatment options. The PA will facilitate transitions of care for patients needing laboratory testing monitoring, outpatient parenteral therapy, and other patient questions or concerns. In the outpatient setting, the PA will work as part of the outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) clinical team to monitor patients on long-term antimicrobials and will see the majority of follow-up patients in the program.

The ID Section has expertise treating infections in patients with a wide range of comorbidities and immunocompromising conditions and has particular clinical strengths in HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C and infections in patients with opioid-use disorders; infection control and antimicrobial stewardship; tuberculosis; and travel- and migration-related diseases, in particular, Chagas disease.

Boston Medical Center and Boston University are committed to building a culturally diverse faculty and strongly encourage applications from women and groups under-represented in Medicine. Candidates who will create programs that recognize the need for racial equity and justice and prioritize our mission for ‘exceptional care without exception,’ are sought.
