POSITION PURPOSE:

The First Mate is responsible for the operation and safety of the property’s vessel. This person should work in a safe manner consistence with USCG regulations. Daily maintenance inspections to ensure vessel operates correctly, in addition to having a high level of customer service to the people who are aboard the vessel. You should be able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Daily operation of vessel 

2. Complete all preventative maintenance as directed by the Captain

3. Meet and greet customers both as they are arriving and departing the vessel 

4. Coordinate line-handling when coming to dock, anchoring, deck maintenance and safety.

5. Ensuring the vessel is clean and sanitized between each departure. 

6. Along with the Captain you are needed to ensure everyone is following safety rules

7. Assist with docking the boat at the fueling station at the marina.

8. Radio communication when necessary

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for use of judgment, and compliance with policies and procedures. Must be both a team player and self-starter.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. First Mate experience preferred 

2. Enrolled in APCA Drug Consortium

3. Certified First Aid and CPR

4. Strong knowledge of boating, 

5. Ability to work independently to achieve goals and targets

6. Ability to organize and prioritize work

7. Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and corporate goals

8. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external customers

9. Adaptable to a fast-paced environment

10. Ability to organize and prioritize work

11. Must have flexible schedule to include working weekends and holidays during busy season

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

12. Must be able to lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs with assistance

13. Ability to swim or use a flotation device

14. Must be willing to work swing shifts, weekends and holidays as directed by Captain or General Manager

15. Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
