DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Manages and curates the school library's print and digital resources to ensure the collection represents high quality, diverse and curriculum-aligned resources. Promotes a culture of reading and digital literacy among students. Collaborates with teachers to design and deliver technology-integrated lessons that align with the Illinois State Board of Education Continuum of Digital Skills and RPS curriculum for literacy, math, social science, science, music, PE, and art. Implements a developmentally appropriate digital literacy program to ensure students develop a strong foundation in essential digital skills. Plans and co-teaches with teachers to provide student learning experiences that align to curriculum materials and incorporate digital skills and technology when appropriate. Identifies and recommends educational technology tools and resources that align with curriculum objectives. Works with community partners to connect virtual and in person connections that extend the student’s learning experience. Creates and delivers opportunities for students to collaboratively problem solve through technology and critical thinking skills. Facilitates projects and activities that encourage teamwork and critical thinking. Supports 1:1 technology in the building by checking devices in and out and provides basic troubleshooting support to teachers and students. Provides K-8 library services and digital skills lessons appropriate to the grade level for all levels of students within the school. (Only applicable to buildings supporting grades K-8)
QUALIFICATIONS: Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications required. Master’s degree in Library Science, Instructional Technology, or a related field preferred. 4 or more years’ experience working in a school library or educational setting of a classroom preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned to our core values of Character, Communication, Collaboration and Continuous Improvement. Strong knowledge of the Illinois State Board of Education Continuum of Digital Skills. Proficiency in educational technology tools and software or ability and willingness to learn. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
WORK CALENDAR: 9 Months

WORKING CONDITIONS: Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
