Description
This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance department and keeping Augusta Transit Management facilities clean and in good repair. May also assist in the cleaning of buses and bus shelters.SUMMARYIncumbent maintains floors and keeps pit areas and grounds in and around the building free of debris. This is not a safety sensitive position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES Pick up trash and cigarette butts from all areas of transit facilities and grounds. Clean garage floors, walkways, maintenance pits, breezeway and parking area. Empty trash cans and replace liners. Refill restroom soap and paper dispensers. Takes all reasonable steps to maintain a safe work environment. Participate in company safety training program and report any potential safety hazards to management. SECONDARY DUTIESOccasionally clean windows. May cut grass or wax service vehicles. May operate electric floor scrubber. Perform other duties as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum knowledge equivalent to elementary school training. Ability to operate basic machinery such as lawn mowers and floor scrubbers. Ability to perform basic maintenance and custodial functions. Must carry a class C license PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical abilities includes, but are not limited to: balancing, climbing, hearing, holding, lifting, kneeling, opening, pulling, pushing, reaching below waist, waist to shoulder, above shoulder, repetitive motion of wrists, hands, arms, operating various switches, door handles, seeing, standing, stooping and talking. RequirementsCOGNITIVE REQUIREMENTSAbility to interact and work with others. Ability to understand verbal instructions.EDUCATIONHigh school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent desirable but not required.EXPERIENCEExperience helpful but not necessary.
