JobDescription:

Toeffectively direct and supervise all functions and activities ofthe Bakery Department and its Associates to achieve the Departmentsgoals (i.e. sales profit Customer Experience and AssociateEngagement) per our Purpose and Service Priorities under thedirection of the General Store Manager.


Minimum Required Qualifications:

The minimum required qualifications for this positioninclude but are not limited to the following:

  • Ability to proficiently read write speak analyzeinterpret and understand the English language.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduledshift.
  • Ability to perform basic computerfunctions.
  • Ability to stand bend twist reachpush pull and regularly lift 25 lbs. and occasionally lift 60lbs.
  • Ability to work with fresh dried and/orprocessed products spices and powdered substances without negativeallergic consequences.
  • Ability to work invarying temperatures.
  • Ability to tolerate dustand cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
  • Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overheadracking and storage areas.
  • Ability to interactwith Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work all assigned work schedules and complywith all time and attendance policies.
  • Abilityto engage and lead Associates to achieve departmentgoals.


Essential Job Functions:

Performance of the essential functions of this positionrequires the Associate to possess the minimum qualifications listedabove and to perform these functions in accordance with allShopRite Service Priorities (Safety Friendliness Presentation andEfficiency). These essential functions include but are not limitedto the following:


Safety (Food Safety &Compliance)

  • Perform allduties in accordance with all Company policies and programs and allLocal State and Federal laws and regulations including allenvironmental health safety and security policies programs laws andregulations.
  • Perform all duties per HAACP andFood Handling procedures.
  • Perform all dutiesunder the Companys HAZCOM program and adhere to manufacturers labelinstructions for the safe and proper use of all chemicalproducts.
  • Maintain a clean neat organized andsafe work environment under Department QA standards.
  • Clearly communicate and consistently enforce departmentand Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Observe all safety regulations when operating equipmentand utilize Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Supervise the proper use of all equipment by Associatesincluding Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Understand and adhere to all procedures inemergencies.
  • Use and maintain equipment ingood working order; immediately advise Store Management of anymaintenance or equipment problems.
  • Ensure thatAssociates operating power equipment (balers hilos power jacksslicing machines etc.) are 18 years of age or older.
  • Regularly lift pull push and rotate merchandise thatweighs 25 lbs. and that occasionally weights up to 60lbs.
  • Unload trucks and transport merchandiseto the Bakery Department that weighs 25 lbs. and that occasionallyweighs 60 lbs.
  • Maintain all temperature logsand production sheets.
  • Set up and maintain aproper cleaning maintenance schedule of the entiredepartment.
  • Successfully completed training toreceive and maintain a companyrecognized Food SafetyCertification.

Friendliness (Customer Experience & AssociateEngagement)

  • Greet allCustomers and provide them with prompt courteous service andassistance.
  • Promote the sale of any currentcharitable promotions to Customers (i.e. Partners in Caring CheckOut Hunger).
  • Assist with the onboarding of newdepartment Associates including interviewing selection and trainingin accordance with Company policies and procedures and all LocalState and Federal labor laws and regulations.
  • Provide continual training developmental action planningand meaningful feedback on job performance toAssociates.
  • Maintain an open line ofcommunication and work cooperatively with all businesspartners.
  • Lead Associates to workcooperatively while encouraging enthusiasm loyalty andcreativity.
  • Sample new items and seasonalfavorites to stimulate Customer interest and demand.
  • Encourage and recognize Associates to provide a positiveCustomer Experience.


Presentation (Personal &Department Conditions)

  • Portray a professional appearance and be a positive rolemodel for all Associates in the department in accordance with theCompany Dress Code Policy.
  • Ensure Unit PriceLabels (tags) for all items are maintained and arecurrent
  • Monitor Bakery storage area forcleanliness neatness and preparation for next shift (i.e. makingbale reclamation plastic pallets).
  • Ensure allmerchandise is fully stocked and rotated in display cases shelvesand other applicable displays according to tag allocation anddepartment standards.
  • Ensure all product isblocked and faced in accordance with Company policy or asassigned.
  • Ensure that featured salemerchandise is signed in accordance with Company and regulatorystandards.


Efficiency (Department Operations &Regulatory Compliance)

  • Understandand utilize all required applications and current technology asrelates to Bakery Operations.
  • Verify theaccuracy of invoices to the actual product received.
  • Ensure all reports and records are accurate complete andretained in accordance with Company policy.
  • Ensure the quality of all products received and securedproperly in appropriate storage areas.
  • Ensurethe accuracy of item pricing item locator and shelfallocation.
  • Ensure reclamation orreturntostock product procedures are followed in accordance withCompany policy.
  • Ensure instore pricingprocedures and instore transfers are followed in accordance withCompany policy.
  • Understand and adhere to LocalState and Federal regulations as relates to BakeryOperations.
  • Understand the impact ofdepartment financials and how to adjust department operations toensure goals are achieved.
  • Understand andadhere to Company shrink guidelines as relates to BakeryOperations.
  • Clearly communicate andconsistently enforce department and Company policies andprocedures.
  • Maintain proper staffing to meetprojected sales and Customer Experience needs.
  • Complete all applicable department trainingprograms.
  • Maintain punctual and regularattendance and work overtime as assigned.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all Local State andFederal Department of Labor Minor Regulations for any Associatesunder 18 years of age.
  • Assist as needed in thepreparation of food products catering and specialorders.
  • Perform other duties asassigned.
