Under the direction of a Drafting Supervisor, our Drafters/Designers are responsible for responding to design/documentation demands and meeting response time and output goals. What you’ll do… You will create new OSP network designs in various applications/software. You will develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks. You will collaborate with Engineering and Construction. You will coordinate with permitting agencies. You will create funding documents/work packages listing applicable units, bill of materials and applicable purchase requisitions. You will ensure designs of facilities are performed in accordance with Company system practices, RUS requirements and requirements of Federal, State and local governing authorities You will provide any documentation required for the cost-effective placement of communication facilities Qualifications Who we are looking for… You will have 4+ years of Telecom OSP Design/Engineering Experience You will have a working knowledge of the telecommunications industry standards, practices, and regulations pertaining to the engineering of outside plant facilities You will have knowledge of aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements You will have knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment is strongly preferred. You will have knowledge of Fiber to the Home and Fiber to the Building is preferred. You will be familiar with general permitting requirements for State Department of Transportation, as well as other state, county, and city permitting agencies You will have a working knowledge of OSP Communications Design systems. You will have a working knowledge with applications such as NDS, FROGS, AutoCAD, Fireworks, Bidmaster, Infinium and/or Varasset is preferred. You will have strong organizational skills and experience with Excel and Word You will be able to effectively communication skills and professional accountability You will have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred in a related industry.
