Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Technical Writer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and leading the technical writing function for NetProApp. You will create clear, concise, and comprehensive help articles, knowledge base articles, and release notes to support our software solutions. You will also work closely with our product managers, developers, and customer support teams to build and maintain a robust knowledge base and create effective communication channels for new feature announcements.


 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of help articles, knowledge base articles, user manuals, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Write and edit release notes for software updates, highlighting new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and known issues.
  • Establish and manage a comprehensive knowledge base, in collaboration with developers and the QA team.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and customer support teams to gather information and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Translate complex technical information into easily understandable content for non-technical users.
  • Ensure all documentation is consistent in style, tone, and quality.
  • Continuously update and improve existing documentation based on user feedback and product changes.
  • Create and manage an email mailing list to announce new features and updates to users.
  • Work with a video team member to convert written content into short help videos.
  • Collaborate with the business team to write monthly "Did You Know" style content pieces that will be converted into videos and distributed to all users of our application.
  • Interview, Hire, Lead and mentor junior technical writers as the team grows.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple documentation projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.


 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer in the software industry, with a focus on leading and managing documentation projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a knowledge base independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to write in a clear, concise, and user-friendly manner.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools and software (e.g., Confluence, Markdown, Adobe Acrobat).
  • Ability to understand and translate technical concepts for a non-technical audience.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.


 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in writing for software solutions in the legal or medical fields.
  • Experience creating and managing email mailing lists for feature announcements.
  • Experience working with video production teams to create instructional content is preferred.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices for online documentation is preferred.
  • Previous experience with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems (e.g., Git) is preferred.
