This is a PRN position at our Belleville Cardiology Clinic
Job Summary:
The registered nurse is a professional practitioner who delivers patient care through the nursing process.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with the patient, family and healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes.Assess and reassess patient clinical condition, which includes objective and subjective assessment data during cardiac stress studies.Utilize critical thinking skills for patient care and daily operations. Demonstrates clinical competencies and skills applicable to unit.Coordinates, initiates, and validates teaching based on identified learning needs of the patient and designated support person.Manages, administers and reconciles medications. Assesses and re-assesses patient.Documents patient care, interventions and responses in the electronic health record (EHR) timely and accurately.Coordinates event monitors and pacemaker checks with vendors.Delegates appropriately according to skill level.Facilitate patient flow and tasks to support Cardiologists.Prioritize and delegate tasks related to patient care.Knowledge of role in code blue situations.Clear and sensitive communication and education with patients and families who are dealing with various stages of cardiac care.Performs all other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.Experience
Greater than one (1) year of working experience in a similar unit with comparable patient acuity is preferred.Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
BLS certified required.EKG basicsAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year of hire.Current Illinois RN State licensure required.Skills and Abilities
Ability to start IV’s.Physical Demands:
Sit or stand for a prolonged period of timeRegularly exposed to body fluids with the risk of bloodborne pathogens or airborne pathogensMust be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (mask, gown, gloves) when required.Lifting/transferring
Able to lift 25 pounds from floor to waist using proper body mechanicsAble to transfer or position clients greater than 50 pounds with assistance or assistive devicesRequesting assistance is expectedPushing/pulling
Required in positioning and moving clients and medical equipment. Pushing required performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)Stooping/kneeling/reaching
Considerable twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching during many aspects of clients care (bathing, making beds, setting up and monitoring medical equipment)Motor coordination and manual dexterity
Able to use one or both hands for grasping, pushing/pulling and fine maculation to perform proceduresTactile sensation
Able to feel vibrations, temperature changes and pulsesEyesight/vision
Near acuity: clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; with 20/40 vision or better with or without correction.Far acuity: clarity of vision at 20 feet or more; with 20/40 vision or better with or without correctionAble to accurately read labels and prepare medications. Read written communication and monitor medical equipment findings.Temperament
Ability to adapt to continually changing environment Able to accept constructive criticism and accept own limitsEmotional and mental stability needed to maintain a therapeutic relationship with clients, families and health team members.Hearing

This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Employees in non-exempt positions are entitled to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek in accordance with state and federal regulations.
