Assistant/Associate Professor of Piano

Summary

The Department of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music with Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts curricular specializations in music education, performance, composition, music industry, and worship leadership. With more than 43,000 square-feet of performance, classroom, practice, and studio space, the Department of Music is located in the four-story Vera Lea Rinker Hall. Internal performing opportunities include involvement in a variety of ensembles including Concert Choir, Oratorio Chorus, Symphony, Symphonic Band, Pop Rock Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Music Ensembles, Early Music Ensemble, and Opera Workshop.

Required Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Piano Performance or Piano Pedagogy Record of successful teaching, service, and scholarly/creative activity appropriate to the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills, as well as conflict resolution Commitment to shared governance and consensus building within a university setting Experience with and commitment to building community across and with programs, departments and schools

Preferred Qualification

Experience teaching applied piano and piano pedagogy at the university level 3+ years of teaching experience at the university level Resume of professional performances and recitals

Summary Of Job Duties

Coordinate Keyboard Division and Keyboard Faculty Teach Applied Piano and Piano Pedagogy student advising; and serving as the Keyboard Division Coordinator Coaching Chamber Music, teaching Piano Classes, teaching Accompanying, and developing and delivering interdisciplinary courses and performances Oversee the Piano Proficiency Exam for all Music Students Teach Piano Class, Coach Chamber Music, and Teach Music Theory (as needed) Advise all Keyboard Majors Participate in university service; student recruitment, retention, and progression; and faculty development programs Contribute to scholarly and/or proprietary creative activity Integrate Christian faith and pedagogy Other duties as assigned by the Dean
