How you make a difference

As an Activity Therapist, this professional provides activity therapy services under the direction of their site supervisor. They are responsible for maintaining effective communication with both the Facility and Correct Care Solutions staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to patients. Overall, this role plays a critical role in enhancing patients' physical and mental well-being through therapeutic activities, while collaborating with colleagues to provide seamless care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide activity therapy services to inmates in accordance with policies and procedures of both CCS and the Facility, consistent with recognized standards of activity Therapy, under the direction of a supervisor. Collaborate effectively with other Facility and CCS staff, while adhering to security regulations and limits of confidentiality of inmate information requirements. Conduct MHP Segregation Rounds and provide a program of activities for inmates, including task groups, socialization groups, community meetings, education/recreational groups, unstructured recreational activities, and individual and group physical exercise activities. Monitor and document inmates' involvement in activities, notify a Qualified Mental Health Professional of significant changes in functioning, and participate in in-service sessions, staff meetings, and treatment team meetings as scheduled. Notify a supervisor in a timely manner of inmate or departmental problems requiring attention, request additional supervision when necessary, and comply with employee standards of CCS and the Facility, including the maintenance of a working environment and personal appearance consistent with professional responsibilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

Associate or bachelor’s degree in activity therapy, therapeutic recreation, or related field.

Experience

Experience providing services to a mentally ill population and/or certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) as required by site contract.
