  • Clinical Support and Expertise Utilizes evidence-based protocols in developing or revising clinical pathways or standing orders. Collaborates with the Education Department and Unit Managers in identifying staff education needs. Collaborates with Public Relations in promoting services to the community.
  • Community Awareness Collaborates with Marketing in promoting services to the community as well as provides education to the community on risk reduction of stroke. Utilizes resources to increase awareness in the community of the signs and symptoms of stroke.
  • Continuous Improvement & Accreditation Participates in quality improvement initiatives; monitors progress and reviews evaluation reports in collaboration with the Stroke Center Medical Director. Reports measurable outcomes in accordance with the accreditation standards/elements.
  • Accreditation & Compliance Coordination Coordinates Compliance with Accrediting, State and Federal Agencies for assigned areas. Inspects the area for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur. Prepares staff/clinical areas for survey readiness, and ensures accurate data submission into appropriate database systems.
  • Inter- and Intra-Department Communication & Collaboration Maintains inter- and intra- department communications and participates in or chairs assigned meetings or committees or leads special projects. Provides feedback to nursing management regarding appropriate or inappropriate nursing interventions.
  • Current Trends & Continuous Improvement Maintains current knowledge of federal, state and regulatory standards related to patient care as well as standards of nursing care.
  • Quality Care Policy Development Suggests policies or practices that should be implemented to support increased quality of care; utilizes evidenced-based protocols in developing policy and procedures.
  • Continuity of Patient Care Delivery Coordination Coordinates management of patient care through multidisciplinary rounding and discharge planning. Provides education to patient and family concerning the treatment goals, plan of care, risk reduction and discharge needs. Acts as a liaison to post-discharge caregivers and coordinates the transfer of clinical information to promote continuity of care.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required - Registered Nursing License
  • Required- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing/Patient Care or
  • Preferred - Master's Degree in Nursing/Patient Care
  • Required - 3 years of Nursing/Patient Care experience or
  • Required - 3 years of Acute Care Nursing Experience (Emergency Department, ICU, Telemetry, Neuro etc.)
  • Required within 180 days - Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
