SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 5-6 years of fundraising experience and/or experience in a cultural institution environment is required.
  • Experience with soliciting and securing five-figure gifts and deployment of moves management strategies for pipeline development.
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment is a must.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people within and outside the museum.
  • Professionally represent the institution and its programs across a wide range of circumstances.
  • Must be personable, highly organized, detail-oriented, and work collaboratively.
  • Must exercise flexibility and the sensibility to adapt to changing priorities .
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Suite: One Drive, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Work collaboratively with members of the Individual Giving team to achieve and exceed annual fundraising goals for exhibitions, programming, and general operations and support the advancement of the museum’s diversity, equity, access, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Oversee the fundraising, and related prospecting, solicitations, renewals, newsletters, as well as event ideation and execution for the Photography Council; Asian Art Circle; and Curators Circle.
  • Develop and manage strategies to maintain existing members and solicit new prospects in order to keep up growth of and exceed annual financial targets for the aforementioned Affinity Groups.
  • Liaise with museum’s curatorial team to collaborate on funding initiatives.
  • Manage prospect lists, execute solicitation letters and proposal materials, as well as donor reports.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors (mostly in the five-figure range) tied to a revenue goal. Oversee internal donor tracking and moves management for the portfolio.
  • Interface with Advancement Operations to process and acknowledge gifts, and maintain and ensure accuracy of donor records, research and reports.
  • Identify new revenue sources and perform budget and expense tracking, database record maintenance, queries and exports in Raiser’s Edge, meeting agenda preparation, and other administrative support.
  • Work with Assistant Director and members of Membership team, Marketing Department, and McVicker mail house on developing Curators Circle renewals, upgrades, and acquisition appeals through direct mail and e-mail.
  • Execute solicitation letters and proposal materials for Individual Gifts’ fundraising requests, in addition to tracking Individual Gift proposals and ensuring accuracy of proposal records.
  • Regularly attend museum-wide and art world events as well as plan cultivation and stewardship events throughout the year.
  • Assist with providing excellent customer service to current and prospective members via phone, email, and staffing events to develop and deepen relationships with donors.
  • Supervise the Associate, Individual Giving.

WORK DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT :
  • Ability to travel (within the metropolitan area or further afield) as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim’s owned or leased properties upon request.
  • Occasionally work may be conducted outdoors, exposure to varied weather conditions
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays on occasion.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.

EDUCATION :
  • Bachelor’s degree with strong interest in art preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field is a plus.
