Your role
• Develop commercially feasible seasonings and duplicate competitive products, through the successful management
and timely completion of customer related projects, in accordance with project parameters and customer
requirements. Responsible for cost optimization, productivity analysis, and raw material review & rationalization,
relative to seasonings and their ingredient portfolio Effectively utilizes critical support functions; Innovations,
Analytical, MCI, and Regulatory in the development process. Responsible for understanding labeling requirements for
seasoning duplications, including FDA and USDA guidelines and restrictions for seasonings. Communicating with
Regulatory and Purchasing for raw material information and labeling requests.
• Responsible for the evaluation and validation of seasoning blends in specific applications in accordance with
customer processing parameters.
• Provide technical assistance and seasoning development expertise to strategic customers. Develop technical to
technical contact and participate in customer calls and technical presentations.
• Stay abreast of new food ingredient developments and technologies, trends and innovation, as well as processing
and equipment advances relative to key Savory categories.
• Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment in their area of jurisdiction. Attend required safety
training and is trained in the proper care and use of lab equipment.
About you
• Requires a B.S. in Food Science or related field, MS in Food Science or related field preferred.
• A minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in a seasoning development role, preferred working with the largest snack companies in the industry.
• Expert understanding of FDA and USDA labeling guidelines for seasonings.
• Experience with applications technologies in the Savory category.
• Product and process development experience
• Ability to develop commercially viable seasonings that meet customer requirements relative to profile, performance, ingredient restrictions and cost.
• Proficient in project management systems like SAP.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, project driven environment.
• Excellent planning and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt and adhere to deadlines.
• Sound knowledge of spices, food ingredients, equipment, and processing are required. Culinary application for processed meats, snack seasonings, soups, bouillons, ready meals.
• Powder functionality knowledge, formulation guidelines.
• It is necessary to be able to represent oneself, work, and the company in a professional and technical manner to customers.
• Travel may be required.
• Must be proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Able to influence, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives and bring teams to consensus / alignment.
• Must be willing and able to taste and smell flavors, seasonings and chef creations.
