Statement of the Job

:

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the successful oversight, strategic planning, daily operations and management of Campus Recreation's Sports Club program for the University of Maine community, and to cooperate in the supervision and implementation of youth programs operated through contractual agreement with the Town of Orono. This position will also directly supervise the full time Coordinator for Intramurals and Youth Programs, bringing both sports programs within Campus Recreation under the guidance of one Assistant Director. Typical hiring range for this position is $48, to $58, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications :

Required:

Bachelors Degree required in recreation, physical education, higher education, sports management/administration or related field. First Aid, CPR and AED certification. Three to five years of full-time experience in recreation program administration, leadership and operation. A graduate assistantship may substitute for one year of full-time experience. Previously demonstrated experience in hiring, training, supervising and evaluating youth program staff and sport club officers. Demonstrated ability to be dynamic and self-motivated and ability to supervise a staff and foster continuous process/quality improvement in the staff. The individual must enjoy participating in a collaborative work environment with student learning as the focus. Demonstrated student-client centered philosophy and approach. Must also be able to interact easily with members of the University community and the ability to articulate the role of a Sport Club or Youth Program in a university setting is necessary. The desired individual must possess outstanding supervision, communication and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work positively and professionally with community and college members.

Masters Degree.
