The UNC School of Education is currently seeking a UNC-Chapel Hill Carolina Community Academy Lab School Temporary Speech Language Pathologist. The School of Education position is a temporary position housed on-site at the Carolina Community Academy starting August , 4.

This temporary position at the Carolina Community Academy reports to the Director of Carolina Community Academy and PK- Partnerships. Educators within the Carolina Community Academy may coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants. As an educator within Carolina Community Academy, the speech-language pathologist will cultivate a culture of innovation that supports effective instructional practices/strategies to promote student academic and personal success for all students in the school. The speech-language pathologist will work collaboratively with others to facilitate and implement innovative instruction to achieve the mission of the school. The speech-language pathologist will work collaboratively with the Carolina Community Academy Principal, Partnerships Program Manager, and university faculty/staff to support the successful social-emotional, physical, and academic development of the students within the Academy. The speech-language pathologist will provide speech services for a case load of students at present, with a maximum of students. Currently of the students, six students are speech only. This position will be comprised of approximately hours of service delivery (at present) for students and four hours of paperwork and documentation related to student services and their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This person will conduct frequent check-ins and provide just-in-time support for the teacher to ensure that appropriate paperwork and services are in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. It is critical that this person has strong experience and knowledge about instruction for students as a speech-language pathologist. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field; excellent oral and written communication skills; and evidence of skill in working with at risk student populations. Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions. A current North Carolina Speech-Language Pathology teaching license is required. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Fully licensed school speech-language pathologist only, with experience serving students as a speech-language pathologist in the school setting, including direct services and documentation to meet compliance. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience The successful candidate will have substantial prior experience with elementary speech and language services as well as the implementation and maintenance of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
