As an integral member of the Hutchinson Regional Health System team, this position will be responsible for daily operations of assigned laboratory section(s). This includes quality assurance, financial controls, and administration. This position also functions as a technologist within the appropriate section(s).

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (federal, state, local).Assists director in meeting operational budget goals.Maintains section(s) workload, QA/QC and financial records as assigned.Oversee staff in department(s) as well as training new hires.Performs assigned procedures in compliance with department Procedure Manuals and QA/QC policy.Performs instrument preventative maintenance correctly and on schedule.Exhibits good working knowledge and logic in troubleshooting and repair of instruments. Maintains the equipment and work area in a clean, orderly manner on a daily basis and documents repairs.Helps ensure an orderly transition between shifts, including provisions for completion of testing in progress.Evaluate the purchase of new equipment and takes the lead on validations.Develops and reviews procedure manuals for Department.Responsible for development and implementation of Quality Improvement Projects.Assists with Medical Technologist duties as required by departments’ needs.Works in partnership with other supervisors and leads in the laboratory to facilitate team work.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Extensive knowledge of laboratory tests and procedures.Strong math and computer skills.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

BS degree in Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science3-5 years previous Medical Technologist experience

Registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and/or CLS registry with National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel, INC.
