Laboratory CFR Engine Technician - I

Position Summary

Installs, maintains and repairs Octane Engine equipment as required. Performs octane testing of refined petroleum products for purposes such as Qualitative Analysis, Quality Control and Process Control.

Minimum Requirements

•Requires a H.S. Degree (or equivalent).

•Must possess a strong mechanical understanding of Octane Engine performance and basic computer, math and science skills.

•Must demonstrate ability to grasp new procedures quickly and be capable of working independently upon completion of training.

Responsibilities

As instructed by the Laboratory Manager or Laboratory director and under the strict guidelines described in Laboratory Manuals and ASTM/API procedures:

•Installs, maintains and repairs octane engines for all Camin Cargo laboratories.

•Provides Octane Engine Maintenance and Repair services to customers at customer site. Ensures that site-specific safety requirements are understood and followed at all times.

•Analyzes products for Octane, as well as quality control samples to verify conformity to specifications.

•Documents test results and maintain neat, complete, and accurate records. Prepares corresponding customer or Quality Control reports through Camin Cargo Control’s computer system.

Demonstrates safety knowledge concerning chemical and/or process hazards associated with work in plants. These include, but are not limited to lockout/tag out, plant emergency action plans, work permits procedures as per customer, job and/or contract requirements.

•Be available during non-working hours, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the Laboratory Manager.

Fitness for Duty – Physical Demands

Workday may consist of 8-12 hours; however, this can vary day to day or shift to shift. Much of the work is performed outdoors, wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and could include possible exposure to high and low temperatures for prolonged duration of time. Work may be performed during day or nighttime hours and may involve working alone.
