Summary of Job Duties:

The Medical Assistant (MA) of the Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) Adolescent Substance Use Program provides direct patient care to assigned patients. The MA works under the direct supervision of the clinic nurse(s) by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma, GED, or formal education equivalent

Completion of Medical Assistant training program

Current BLS

Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic and accountability

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an ambulatory care setting

1 or more years of MA experience


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

Prepares treatment rooms for examination.

Assists with medical procedures and examinations.

Conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and phlebotomy.

Performs EKGs, dressing changes.

Administers approved medications.

Researches and scribes the physician's notes.

Orders/accession orders for clinical laboratory or appropriate processing center. Performs administrative tasks by registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc. using the various registration and scheduling systems.

May perform other duties as assigned.
